Self-similar properties of traffic in networks with Ethernet technology occur at high rates of network interface utilization of end and transit nodes. Therefore, research developers, integrators and administrators of computer networks and transport systems need to have a tool for regulating the network interface load other than costly traffic generators. In this article we offer a technique to ensure the desired load using the ubiquitous ping utility of software ICMP protocol, or its upgraded version — nanoping. The results of our experimental research prove the efficiency of this method.
