A new approach to construction of a toolbox for criminalistics examination of phonograms is considered. A brief comparative analysis of known solutions is performed. The widely-spread hardware-software complex for phonoscopic expertise of sound recordings IKAR Lab, including the speech signal input/output devices and the software for spectral analysis of phonogram signals, was tested. With the obtained data taken into account, shortcomings of the applied methods for spectral analysis of speech signals, which are implemented on the basis of the Fourier transform, are considered. Engineering solutions are proposed, which provide the higher accuracy both at the stage of sound-recording input to a computer and directly during the computation of speech-signalparameters. Examples of the adaptive multilevel wavelet-processing of phonograms yielding the high-resolution frequency-time structure of vowels are given.
