Enhancement of inertially damped gyro system dynamic features by introducing backlash into dissipative joint

A gyroscopic system with dynamic absorber mounted on the precession axis, is considered. It is shown that introduction of a backlash into the dynamic absorber dissipative joint upgrades substantially the gyro system frequency response within the range of resonance frequencies as compared to linear gyro system at optimum absorber parameters. Recommendations on selecting nonlinear damper parameters are given. The results of nonlinear gyro system investigation by means of harmonious linearization method are compared with numerical solution of nonlinear differential equations.
